We enjoyed our stay in an apartment in Piraeus not far from the port entrance. The port is a very busy and very big area, it took us a while to find our way round as there are very few directional signs in English. It makes it hard to find things initially. We had to ask directions a lot and some locals treated us poorly with eye rolling, etc. while they explained directions to us like we were children. Once you get it worked out though it is a great way to do a bit of island hoping. We went on day trips to Paros, Hydra and Aegina. Loved them all.
Hospitality staff in restaurants and cafes in Piraeus were great, very friendly and helpful. Great service everywhere we went.
The area is not very attractive though as it is a working waterfront and as with everywhere in Greece there is so much graffiti. So sad that a city with such incredible history is so badly defaced. Overall it was a great stay though.

A bustling harbour and marina area of downtown Athens.
A bustling harbour and marina area of downtown Athens. We loved it as being near the Zea Marina meant lots of nightlife and amazing super yachts etc. It had a good family feel with people out and about safely having fun till quite late. You could access public transport to get into Athens centre easily and I would say this is a good a place to stay if not better due to ability to swim and see some quieter parts beyond the central tourist areas. It also meant accessing trips to the Islands was easy as they mainly left from the marinas, and if you wanted a ferry or cruise these were also nearly at the port the other side of the peninsula.

We stayed near the marina which had lots of quaint restaurants. It was easy to walk around and enjoy. The hop-on hop-off bus stop was right outside our hotel and provided easy access to Athens without all the headaches of staying in Athens. Since we were taking a cruise, this hotel was easily accessible to the cruise terminal and the hotel staff took care of all our arrangements.

Our host was amazing.
Our host was amazing. She was such a great facilitator and helped us find everything that we needed. She was just more than cordial. She even helped us find a plug that we needed in the town nearby. Shelters find our way to the train and I have it was a very nice clean, happy place and about a 20 minute cab ride to the port with the cruise ships, she was amazing
lIt was clean and out of the way. If you know Athens and feel comfortable you should stay here if you want a good value and some quiet. If you don’t Athens or Piraeus, the area might make you nervous: It’s near the port so there are a few homeless and probably drug related homeless, but that’s not the fault of the hotel.
- Also, it is great on a Sunday summer night at 4 in the morning to hear music from the local bouzoukia blaring in the Piraeus night.
The property was centrally located, close to the Cruise Port. The building was clean and had everything we needed. Even a washer/dryer in the apartment. Restaurants and shopping was within walking distance. Public transportation was close by and easy to use. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Athens, Greece for an extended stay or a short stay. Thank you for providing this place through your website on Booking.com.
Located in the immediate vicinity of the port of Piraeus, Filon hotel is an extremely comfortable option if you are staying near the port. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they supplied us with basic information about connections to Athens, port gates, metro lines etc. The 24hour check in is a godsend. The rooms are clean, spacious, and fairly soundproof, and the breakfast was pretty good too.
We enjoyed our stay close to Piraeus Port where we caught our cruise ship. The hotel kept us informed about pickup and times etc., We enjoyed the wonderful breakfast the following day. We would stay here again if needed. We also liked that were figured out how to take the metro from Athens airport to Piraeus all on the blue line and it only took an hour.
Achillion was a perfect hotel to stay in the night before an early boat to Naxos the following day. Only around 5 or 6 min walk to the port (and less than a 10 min walk from Dimotiko Theatro train station where you get to direct from Athens airport), it was great value for money, very clean and the staff were super-friendly. Highly recommended.
The hotel is very safe, quiet, clean. The staff members are very nice and helpful. The bed was comfortable! No bugs in the room haha which is important in a big city.
Love the free port transfer which was very easy and efficient. Also good restaurants and ice cream places and clothing shops in easy walking distance.
Excellent location for the port or to catch the metro into the centre. Bed was so comfortable which is hard to find in Greece! Breakfast also great quality and lots of selection. Ate at the hotel restaurant twice and the food was beautiful. My new favourite hotel in Piraeus!
The staff were lovely and helpful. The room was lovely and clean. Had a hair dryer.👍🏻 I went for football, but forgetting that, there was a lovely marina, with very reasonable prices. Transport into Athens itself is very cheap. Overall I was delighted with the hotel.
The hotel was only a ten minute walk to the metro station and trains into Athens ran every 10 minutes or so and took about half an hour to get to the city centre. Some terrific restaurants close to the hotel offering Italian, Indian, Thai and Greek food.
Perfect hotel for an overnight between ferry and airport. Comfortable room with good bed and bathroom. Very friendly helpful staff. Would also be a great hotel for touring Athens at a more reasonable price than staying around Syntagma or Plaka.
The hotel was conveniently located near the port. 10 minute ride 26 Euro cab fare. The rooms were clean and the staff was very plesant and accomodating. Plenty of places to eat a short walk away and the do have a small breakfast
Clean, nice and spacious room with all the necessary facilities. Kind and helpful staff. The neighborhood of the hotel is outside of the hustle and bustle of the city center offering a better quality of accommodation in Athens.
I booked the hotel as a night stopover in Athens.
Very close to the port, good size room and clean bathroom.
Excellent breakfast in the morning and the guy at reception was exceptional.
Much of the hotel has recently been refurbished to a high standard. Excelĺent breakfast. Free shuttle between the hotel and cruise ports/local Metro (for Athens and airport).
The location was perfect and a short ride to the port for our cruise. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel was beautiful and a great price!
