We’ve recently returned from a trip to Baha Mar (full review here), and I’ve broken down everything you need to know about the Grand Hyatt, SLS, and Rosewood at Baha Mar – including the pros and cons of each – so you can choose the perfect spot for your stay at this incredible resort.

Map of Baha Mar Resort
First, let’s take a look at the layout of this sprawling property! The resort includes three unique hotels, all sharing the amenities of Baha Mar. The Grand Hyatt is the largest hotel, right in the center of the property. This is home to the casino and most of the resort pools. On one end, you’ll find the SLS Hotel and the Baha Bay water park. And on the opposite end, you’ll find the luxurious Rosewood Hotel, with their private pool and beach area.
Here’s a map of the property:
The Grand Hyatt Baha Mar
Best For: A decent value in the middle of all the action!
The Grand Hyatt is the largest hotel at Baha Mar, housing about 1,800 of the resort’s 2,200 total rooms. Most of the accommodations here are standard hotel rooms, though there are also some full suites with kitchens and separate bedrooms for those who need extra space.
Pros: If you check out the resort map, you’ll notice that most of Baha Mar’s key amenities – like the casino, most of the pools, restaurants, and sports facilities – are centered around the Grand Hyatt, making it a super convenient option for guests.
Cons: As the central hub of the resort, the Grand Hyatt tends to be the busiest of the three hotels. So you won’t find much peace and quiet in the common areas here.
The Grand Hyatt is the best option if you’re looking for a typical hotel room in the heart of the action. Frankly, this is where most people stay at Baha Mar. So if you just want a basic room at a great resort – you would be totally fine to just book this and move on with your trip planning. ;)
The Reserve at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar
Best for: An upgraded experience in the heart of the resort.
Now, The Reserve is not its own hotel, rather a separate section in the East Wing of the Grand Hyatt. The rooms in The Reserve are all suites, so they are generally very spacious and well appointed. We recently stayed in a One Bedroom Suite here and it was absolutely massive! (You can read my full review of that trip here.)
Pros: The Reserve has a separate entrance with its own reception desk, making check-in much faster and easier than the main hotel. It also has a private lounge where you can grab some free waters and snacks, and a complimentary happy hour each evening. But the biggest perk is really the rooms themselves – very spacious, high end suites.
Cons: The price tag is the only real downside of The Reserve. The rooms are great and there is a higher level of service, but they can also be pricey. So if you find a great deal – snatch it up!
Overall, The Reserve is a great choice if you want to stay in the heart of the action but are willing to splurge a little for a higher end room and a bit more service.

(be sure to choose rooms marked “The Reserve” in the East Tower if you are looking for that!)
SLS Hotel
Best for: An adult-only trip or anyone ready to party!
If a party vibe is what you’re after, The SLS Hotel is the place to be. With just over 300 rooms, this boutique-style hotel is located right next to the water park and serves as the hub for much of the resort’s nightlife. It’s also home to an adults-only pool and the Privilege Pool, an exclusive spot that requires a day pass (and is strictly for grown-ups).
Keep in mind that SLS gets lively, especially at night, which means it can also be quite noisy. It’s perfect if you’re planning to join the fun – but not so ideal if you’re trying to get little ones to sleep. Choose accordingly!
Pros: If you’re on an adults only trip, SLS is home to the only free adults only pool on the property. And it’s the most popular spot at the resort for nightlife.
Cons: Noise. It can be so loud at night at the SLS, that even guests in the nearby West wing of the Hyatt complain about the noise.
Overall, the SLS is a great choice for an adults only trip, especially for younger folks that want to join in on all of the partying in the evenings.
Rosewood Baha Mar
Best for: A true five star experience with all the Baha Mar amenities.
If you’re looking for a more luxurious stay, the Rosewood is the way to go. With just over 200 rooms, it’s a smaller, more exclusive property located at the quieter end of the resort – far from the buzz of the water park and the partiers at the SLS. Rosewood guests get access to a private beach and a secluded pool, making it the perfect spot if you’re after a peaceful, high-end escape.
Pros: Rosewood has a private pool and beach area, exclusive to their guests. And of course, the rooms and service level are what you would expect for a true five star resort.
Cons: That five star resort comes with a five star price tag. Be ready to pay up for the Rosewood!
Overall, the Rosewood is a great choice for anyone that wants a quieter, more serene vibe. And if you’re looking for the attention to detail and service levels that come with a high end property, Rosewood is really the only choice available at Baha Mar.
